Blood and Sap

There would have been some blood and sap in it – the trees of knowledge and of life growing together.

C. S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man

I love this little sentence that I came across while exploring the topic of education. It struck me as a beautifully profound way of describing my goal when I teach scripture. I pray that what I share will intersect with that which is written on the heart enabling the listener/reader to choose through a process of discernment rather than defaulting to a visceral reaction.

Hope rather than despair. Love rather than hate. Forgiveness rather than malice.

May your lives be enriched with learning from blood and sap.
