Lord Jesus, you foretold that your disciples would be despised on account of your name, but that not a hair on their heads is ever forgotten. In times of persecution, defend and revive us by the power and comfort of the Holy Spirit, so that we can be freed from our enemies and praise your saving help.

Should we ever find ourselves at the hands of someone or a government that wants to silence our voice due to our allegiance to Jesus as the Christ we can take heart in this prayer above. We trust that the God who supplied for the needs of those who have gone before us, especially those who went to their death for Christ, is the same One who watches over us this day. The God who, through the gift of sacrificial love in his Son, strengthens us this day and in our greatest hour of need.
