When darkness comes….

I do not know why someone makes up their mind to take their life. Truth is, if you have had the tragic misfortune of losing someone to suicide the very question that you want answered can never be resolved; WHY?!

When we are kids, we have little challenges, great moments of ahhh, and some of us have the secure feeling that we have families who love and support us. Somewhere along the way there are individuals who get lost in the voices of despair, and the final lie that once you are stuck in life there you stay until it is all over. Dreams, celebrations, joy, hope quickly slip away.

Yet, these are only the qualities, or characteristics of depression. That does not mean that someone will take their life.

I don’t know where this idea comes from, but I know that it is not a new thought. Classic Western Philosophy toyed with suicide as the only true and heroic exit from this world. It is highly prevalent in the some of the greatest tragedies ever written. Beck, Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, and Chris Cornell all sing of ending it all in their own artistic ways. Whether this is their way of naming the thing that haunts them so that they can overcome it is something that only they can share.

What I see are people who are stuck in their thoughts, and like an old vinyl that is scratched the needle is skipping in the same location with that same message playing in their minds over and over again. That is one of the things that seems to be present when someone is nearing a dangerous point in their life. If you are there or you are with someone who is do not delay. Get help now!

If you have read this and you can relate please know that I am praying for you. In Psalm 6:9 it says; “The LORD has heard my cry for mercy;  the LORD accepts my prayer.” I believe that the relief and release you need is available to you today through the Lord of life.
